Still, one thing needs to be clear: you CAN hyperventilate by
exerting yourself, which is very easy during snorkeling or free diving.
If you take several dives in a short amount of time, you risk having too low oxygen in your blood. ALWAYS give yourself more than a minute or two to fully breathe up and become comfortable again. You should feel relaxed by the time you take another dive.
The risk alone, in my opinion, is manageable if you don't push yourself. But any depth underwater alone is not the place to hold your breath, nobody will save you if you pass out.
