that's why they go right after the battery. the SR44 puts out a little over 1.55v. the 1N5711 diode cuts aprox. 0.25v, so after the diode you get around 1.35v, and that's what the camera meter sees.
most 625 to SR44 adapters are pretty much the same exact thing, a diode fitted in a shell that gets sandwiched between the battery and the camera terminal, but for stupid high prices.
a diode costs cents and can be soldered in a minute.
