Anything can be art if you have a motive, a message, or good argument/point behind it. Even a signed urinal can be art. Even a shit smear is art, and quite effective too because of the multiple meanings that can be taken from it or points it could be making. Is it calling contemporary art shit, is it stating that low effort art has the same merit in that gallery as other more serious pieces, is it a statement against the institution? Anything is art if framed properly, literally and quite figuratively.
