Hello /fag/. These are my thoughts of the Voigtländer 35mm f1.2 for X-mount, used on an X-Pro2.
Indeed, as other reviews have said, is that the lens is both soft and tons of optical imperfections, such as chromatic and longitudinal aberrations at 1.2 that people could call 'character'. The strength, though, is that at 1.4 and above, these optical imperfections virtually disappear, while the sharpness increases quickly, peaking at f4. In that sense, if I wanted to get artsy fartsy, I could.
The focus mechanism is smooth and easy to actuate. The aperture control ring equally so - perhaps even too easy to actuate, compared to more clicky lenses like the Voigt- 40mm f2 SL I for M42.
Distortion is sometimes noticeable - I need +17 in C1 to account for it for photos taken close-up.
All-in-all, I feel as if I could leave this lens on the body forever. I think the same goes for most manual lenses, of course, but now I have the sort of satisfaction of having a native-mount manual lens that is bright, sharp, optically good, low distortion, good physical construction and handling, etc.
