The reason I opt for the silver version of a camera if it's available is I have found them to be less intimidating to the people you're photographing. Sounds like BS, but in my experience regular people in casual situations (i.e. not creepshots) are less defensive and don't clam-up as much when you start shooting with a less pro-looking camera. Silver does the trick.
