The thing is, not all photographs are meant to have some crazy deep meaning or whatever - photography is a visual pleasure first and foremost. Some photographs I take for the visual aesthetic pleasure, others I take as a social commentary (which do require some insight on the country, culture, social interactions, etc). For example - you enjoyed the composition of my last photo, but you failed to understand they were two homosexual men, openly embracing each other, in China no less. Its these extensions that moves me and gives me the urge to document it. Regardless if your views on that, photography ultimately deals with the temporal aspects of reality - time. It’s about recording some aspects of life often overlooked.
