Look into more powerful flashes so you can stop down your aperture more to result in overall lowering the ambient light. Or you could try doubling up your current flashes.
Depending on your output, you could also look into some of the old Nikon DSLRs with electronic shutters (I think this is the reason) that could be pushed well beyond their flash sync with triggers. I could max out my D70s at 1/1600th when using Pocket Wizards. Bet you could find a d70 body for ~$50.
