>>3170955I had that problem with my Coolpix and with my D3400 using tubes and 18-55mm lens. With the Coolpix I often bumped insects and one time even took pics of the scratches on the outer lens. With the D3400 using the 18-55mm lens and 12mm extension tube, I can get pretty good macros. I can put all 68mm of tubes on it and get really great zoom, but it the distance from the lens to the subject is like 0.5mm or less. Which means I need a ring light to take those pics properly and insect pics are really hard to get.
I have the 2 lens kit for the D3400 and 3 tubes that total 68mm. With the 70-300mm lens and 68mm of tubes, I can stand about 5-6 feet away from the subject, which is really nice. However, I don't get the super close up macros with that.
This one was taken using the Coolpix.
>>3170942Getting the individual eyes in focus is amazing in that shot. Good work. Mine here
>>3170757 is the best I've been able to get, but that was on a 5 foot tall golden rod plant swaying in the wind. So, like 1 good shot out of about 20-30.
