And then they say yes, I quick try to set something up. So i ask what neighborhood they live in (don't be creepy. Just ask "where abouts do you live?") , what day/time they are free, and I tell them my concept. Basically I don't make small talk with strangers; I get straight to the point.
It's also helpful that by the time I started asking strangers to take portraits, I had already taken a few shoots with my female friends. So I kinda had a portfolio so it's less creep. I mean I did all of this in 4 months, so I am sure you can do it too.
