Generally, rangefinders really aren't much smaller than SLRs at all. The fixed lens rangefinders from the 1970s/1980s are basically same size as an SLR with a 50mm. Even interchangable lens rangefinders are nearly the same size as SLRs. Interchangeable lenses are definitely smaller though. For this reason, RFs generally aren't as deep as SLRs. I can comfortably fit my RFs + lens into a coat pocket. My SLR + lens just barely squeezes in the same pocket. Neither of these are comparable to what something sized like an XA though. That shit fits into the front pocket of a pair of jeans no problem.
