The A7 won't AF with adapted lenses and it will feel quite different to the 5D and take some time to get used to (Sony is all about customising the camera to how you want it, setting custom buttons, but the original A7 has less options).
If neither of those apply to you then the A7 is a fairly decent option, I doubt you'll get better quality from a mirrorless camera for the price. Not a massive upgrade from the 5DII but you might notice the improvements at the upper and lower ends of the ISO range. It's just lacking a fair bit compared to the newer models, the customisation as mentioned, no IBIS, the small grip is crap, AF isn't as good, smaller lower res EVF, only does 5fps, doesn't charge over type C, etc.
