What I did could easily be applied to QR code or text (needless IMO; just add purchasing info in the corner) and it gets progressively worse the farther away you get from the focal point, which is left intact. You'd be hard pressed to recover this too because nothing is overlaid, and it doesn't rely on opacity.
This is a heavy handed example for illustrative purposes. You could get away with much less.
