Mostly; cats are good for abstractions. You'll find yourself looking for things to shoot that are tiny little rectangles of aesthetics, containing things that are usually far away. Telephoto perspective compression and weird boke are the main feature, and cats are really the only lens configuration light and small enough to be able to use with any degree of convenience.
It's still fairly massochistic though. If they all had autofocus it would be a lot more enjoyable; but as it is: it's a real strain to even just hold a frame still enough to be able to see the contrast of an in-focus slice of whatever subject you are trying to put it on. I guess a monopod would be a useful tool. Or a tripod if thats your kink.
