Speaking for the Balda, it has some little niceties too. For instance it has a little arrow that points to the film advance after you've taken a shot, ot advance the film. And when doing so, it changes and points to the shutter, indicating it's ready to shoot.
In the viewfinder, when you half-press the shutter, it lights up a red OK when the light is sufficient for handholdable shutter speeds, and a flash signal when it's too low. It'll give accurate multi-second exposures if you bother to set it on a tripod, not sure how long the shutter can go, but definitely upwards of 4 seconds.
Then there's the dedicated flashes that you can connect, but they add considerable bulkn (because the cameras are small). On the minox it attached on top, on the Balda on the side. 2AA batteries, 3 power settings. Fine for quick snaps of people at parties etc.
