>>3592504 said, you'd use filters for white balance/color correction. Most film was daylight balanced. If shooting in tungsten lighting, you'd add a tungsten-to-daylight filter (usually an 80A); otherwise, you'd get an orange cast. If you had indoor film and wanted to shoot outdoors, you'd use a daylight-to-tungsten filter (usually an 85) to counteract the blue cast.
There are also filters for color correction under fluorescent lighting, particularly FL-Ds, which correct for green color cast.
