Calibration and QC is quite expensive. Do you know the defect ratio for semiconductor dies? Do you think every IBIS sled rolled of the line working flawlessly? You have seen the hasselblad assembly process since you love them so much, ya? How much time is spent just calibrating each piece?
It's actually cheaper to make a motherboard than a camera. Just eliminating the MFCS saves a ton of time in making sure the MFCS works right. You only have to time the MSCS, and most of the time, the EFCS wasn't actually timed that well and youd get uneven exposures with non-native lenses or a software cap on the max EFCS speed but not the max ES speed.
