>>3175926Was gifted the Image by a relative, after having sat in a kitchen, a shed and generally spent its life either as a child's toy or being lugged up mountainsides looking for the remnants of aircraft.
Cleaned a decade's worth of grease off it to find the insides were still in mind condition - some of the foam is missing where the mirror snaps up, but that's about it.
Holy fuck is it built like a tank. It's like, three times the weight of an EOS and twice the weight of the Spotmatic I brought back from Japan. The 135mm lens alone is as heavy as the body. It feels like something somebody's life depended on.
And I suddenly realise I have some properly excellent equipment, and no real idea how to use it, beyond tying to line shit up alone the 2/3rds line and hoping I get the exposure right by metering with my phone.
It comes with a flash-kit, but is missing the shoe adapter.
My experience with photography thuis far has been a mostly-automatic minolta taking snapshots at cons, and a holiday in Japan.
