Pentax DSLRs are legit, extremely well-made pieces of hardware. Even low-end Pentax cameras feature the same rugged and excellent build quality and ergonomics as their high-end lineup. Whereas CaNikon skimp out on the build quality of their low-end cameras, Pentax builds them all to the same standard. Every single Pentax DSLR has a pentaprism, none of this pentamirror bullshit.
Even when Pentax makes ridiculously colored bodies, they're still built to the same high standard. This demand for excellence at all tiers is probably why they're not as profitable.
