It's a fantastic camera and a great camera to learn photography with. It's got all the manual controls, aperture priority, shutter priority, etc. and it shoots in RAW. Best thing is that it's so small it fits in your pocket and you can take it anywhere with no hassle. I've taken mine hiking, skiing, to the beach, etc.
I bought mine used and very cheap. I don't know how much you spent on yours but I know the newer ones are kind of expensive. If you're okay with spending the same amount of money you could consider buying a used DSLR or mirrorless ILC, if you want the higher resolution.
