As kids spotting the cool ones on the way to and from school was a good game to play. Cars then were a statement of intent. The Lotus Esprit was my favourite (prolly a bit shit really). AC Cobra looked cool but less space age. The Triumph TR7 was shit? (I don't know). Looked cool and Purdey (Joanna Lumley) from the "The New Avengers" drove one. They were quite common on the roads.
