>>3459843I know about that. I'm only telling you what people have personally told me. A guy shoots m43 in his free time, and he's not touching them for sports simply because of that lag. Not saying it's not possible to shoot on evf's, just telling you how it is. Heck, this picrelated guy shot on these tinny Nikons way back and got good results. Google his twitter for some quick laughs.
>>3459845>I assure you that even at the time those photographers would have quite preferred sharper lenses, but the technology simply didn't exist. That's again completely wrong. Soft focus was extensively used for one reason alone. To make actresses look good. In a total reverse of what you're saying, photographers actually looked for softness in the lenses to achieve that. Don't forget that they were shooting large format, and had enough sharpness to rival todays digital backs. I posted Merlyn specifically for that as an example. In The Misfits, her and Gables last film (worth watching only for the last scene), she was reported to be such a wreck, that she was filmed extensively in soft focus. I don't know specifically whether technique carried over to photography from film, or if it was the other way around, but it was prevailing in both, and is still in use today. Despite digital editing going long ways to emulate it, and filters helping along, there are people still using, and looking for soft lenses to achieve the same look.
