>>3499100Don't limit yourself to fine emulsions, every B&W film has its' contrast character, just like colof films have their colors. Try each you can find and see which you like the most. Or move on to medium format right away, thats' where I test fims, because I can get through the films reasonably fast. For dev, you can try D-76, it's for ~800 ml, so you should get 15-20 developments in 1l Peterson tank. Of course you have to buy fixer and these two + tap water are bare minimum to start your developing advernture.
My fav go-to b&w film is fomapan 400. It's cheap in Europe, and has nice contrast when I'm in the mood, I load my Yashica Rolllei RPX 25 (yes, it's ISO25, pic related, deved and scanned at home) - I love how the photos are looking, this speed makes it quite speclaized though.
