I'm looking for recommendations for nice looking LUTs.
I've been examining the world of creative LUTs and a whole load of other stuff related to it. Now... normally I actually despise LUTs within photography. Most of it is garbage, and often tries to emulate film when... really you should just buy film and shoot it.
Personally... that's what I would do. *But*... video is a little different, and without obtaining some old 8mm or even 16mm camera that may or may not be working with a bunch of lenses that may or may not be total garbage..... all the while trying to rely on finding a lab that will not only not fuck up developing 8mm or 16mm film, and then working out the best way to then scan that developed film to be digital....
well... here I am returning to the realm of LUTs that emulate film
I am most interested in trying to recreate the look of Lomography Metropolis. Pic Rel.
Now... I got a bunch of "Lomography inspired" LUTs, and they mostly don't look so hot. Some seem to do jobs I wouldn't like to do with digital in the first place (Redscale LUTs????)...
I managed to do this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DM2Gtbtz3jw which is some sort of blueish LUT which I then attempted to colour grade to get the blue out of the image as much as possible, and then I boosted the gamma and saturation to help... or so I hoped...
So, if you have any LUT recommendations (looking for .cube files) I'm listening.
