I feel that photography is literally forcing me to become a social person these days, and I’m noticing my camera and lens choices following suit. I used to live on 50mm and 85mm for street but I am now trying 35mm and taking two steps forward instead, and realizing that 35mm is probably a more versatile street focal length, as long as you can talk to people and be pleasant and/or invisible. I’m also moving up to large format 4x5 and 8x10 and suddenly I have the desire to stand on a street corner doing a 1 minute exposure while people stare at me or ask me what I’m doing. Photography becomes more interesting and fun once you move past social anxiety and become an annoying shithead streetie
