>>4076280I have a D5100 too. Generally the hard part is getting it to actually take a fucking shot past 6 PM, stuff like your pic is fine straight out of the camera once you get that working. Then I just put it into lightroom, if you lower the constrast but increase the shadows it keeps that contrast while also being more visible.
Compositionally, when shooting at night I just try to think about that contrast and use it in my compositions, things will stand out more and you can't have as many points of interest like during the day or it'll just look gross.
