the base length is a non issue. i shoot with a 40/1.4 and 50/1.5 and even on my r4m with a 0.58 ebl and small 50mm framelines i can shoot wide open comfortably. pic related

guess it depends what 50 you want though. if you try memeing with a 50 1.1 on a bessa, you'll probably have a bad time

You can buy the Voigt 40/1.4 for <$300 quite easily. I paid $200 for mine.

Anyway, people meme about the short baselength but I have no problem focusing a 40/1.4 and 50/1.5 on my R2. It's not even a problem on my R4A (pic related 40mm @ 1.4) with even shorter baselength. I shoot with a 75/2.5 on the R2 just fine too.
