For regular stacking I just use a geared slider but I barely use it since most of my subjects are alive and for those if you stack it's usually so few images you can get that you might as well do it handheld.
And the mantis is my "pet", together with a bunch of other bugs. I keep them as a hobby and use macro photography to document them.
