I travelled with a Fuji Natusa S, Fuji GA645, and about 100 rolls of film. Never travel with gear you would be devestated to lose. Many times I've seen tourists lose their shit because their big backpack containing their expensive camera gear can't come into the bus and has to go below, or their bag has to get checked in and stored elsewhere on the boat. There WILL be times when your bag will be taken and put elsewhere during travel.
The more mellow and easy-going you can be about everything, the more fun you'll have. Some people really didn't seem to enjoy traveling and were always stressed or complaining about this and that...which led me to wonder why they were travelling in the first place.
