>>4216950From a color appearance model, we can define "working color spaces", such as sRGB, AdobeRGB, Prophoto, etc. These spaces are described with viewing conditions, such as white point, max luminance, black point, state of chromatic adaption, and primaries. Thus, all colors in the space have associated LAB coordinates, which have XYZ coordinates, which come from SPD measurements. So in theory, you could measure every SPD of every ray of light corresponding with every pixel, then correct everything in post. However, this impractical, and wouldn't produce colors very pleasing to look at. Everything would be dull and mushy. This is why we exaggerate colors and tones in post.
