When I was out with that big white lens, every bird in the area, including my chickens lost their shit and ran/flew away. They stayed as far away as possible. They don't even get that way when cats are around my legs. I had read that white was the big no-no color to wear, when out viewing nature, due to it being the most used warning color for danger. Lots of birds only have white on them when they fly away and deer lift their tails to show the white underside when running away. This got me to thinking that Canons line of wildlife lenses are all....white. No wonder they need to be massively telephoto, you can't get close if the white is exposed.
