Some people demand that 135 is the ONLY way to shoot portraits, some say 50 adds some "life" while being relatively undistorted, some say 80 and above, etc. I have a 24-70 that I've been shooting portraits with at 70mm and it seems fine. I can't imagine 85mm being such a huge difference in distortion/compression that it warrants a new lens, but now I'm wondering about it. And 105mm is delicious, but does it have a quality that 70mm doesn't? Do I need to give a shit about this?
