>>3418176>Only it is somehow 8k on four thirds sensor.This isn't as crazy as it sounds. It may be using the multiaspect Sony IMX299CJK sensor. This is the same 40MP sensor that's in the Panasonic GH5S, but on the GH5S it's using a modified Bayer array that bins pixels 2x2 for better low-light performance. That gives it an effective 10MP for stills, and 8MP (aka 4K) in 16:9.
Without the quad binning and using a standard Bayer array, if one is willing to take the (probably huge) noise hit, this sensor can do 8K. It already does it under the hood on the GH5S, it's just that the user never sees it before it's processed into the binned 4K signal.
