>>3517391It's what I use, and I couldn't be happier. If you're doing expeditions, some serious shit where you only have it for documentation, then yeah, compact are the best option. Something with a bit of zoom that can take little space and weight. If you've time to stop and enjoy the scenery, then go a little larger. Olympuses and smaller Panasonics. You could go elsewhere, but you're loosing lens versatility, because the rest have heavier lenses at longer ranges and in wide zoom. Two three lenses, spare battery, olympuses 40-150 kit zoom for reach, and I'm still under a kilo. I looked, but I couldn't find anything similar anywhere else.
