>>4345636>>Having ridiculous full well capacity is cheatingUsing more light and claiming the same ISO is cheating. You don't magically get more light in a dark venue because your camera has "ridiculous full well capacity."
>bu...bu...but muh fwc!!!Doesn't win on total DR if the smaller sensor has less e-noise by a greater amount than the fwc difference. How this plays out in the real world is that the R5 matches the 50R at base ISO, is a bit behind until at 200, then has more at 400 (dual gain). At 1600 and above the 50R pulls ahead. You can theorize about the electronics all you want, but that's the real world observation.
You give up DR with a 5Ds/5DsR because of the older sensor, along with ISOs above 12800. But it still has more DR than Kodak Portra, and in the real world that's plenty to work with. Sun in frame with deep foreground shadows is where it can run into trouble, but you can always blend two frames or use DxO's converter (easily another stop of DR).
>Also, ISO 51200 comparisons are a literal fucking joke because 1: that setting is unusable on every camera 2: you're looking at electronic noise that's only of interest to astrotistsOnce again: the differences get SMALLER as you go down.
>noooo dpreview didn't shoot it right!>you're supposed to add two stops to the ev when at ISO 3200>and still call it ISO 3200!!!Sorry anon, but the IQ advantages of the 50R are tiny. In theory it should be better at high ISO, but by less than 1 stop. In practice the newer FF sensors are just cleaner. The 100mp models give you noticeably better IQ, if you need to print that large. But keep in mind high rez FF will do excellent 40" prints and good to very good 60" prints, assuming glass and technique are up to the challenge.
