>>3410616The D5300 gets a lot of attention as a great budget Nikon DX alternative to current models, and rightly so. However, at that point the D5200 is almost a better value: its missing a lot of the features of the D5300, but the core photographic elements are for all intents and purposes almost identical, and the D5200 consistently costs a lot less. So consider the D5200 as well.
To answer the rest of your question, it depends on what you value the most in a camera. D5300, a6000, and X-T20 will all offer absolutely superb image quality (with the right lenses). The a6000 is small, but suffers from poor ergonomics because of that. Additionally, the native Sony APS-C lens lineup isnt great, especially if you want fast zooms. The D5300 is a good balance between cost, performance, ergonomics, and lens availability (both first and third party); though speaking from experience, its size will likely wear on you after a while, depending on how often you take it with you. X-T20 has great ergonomics, is pretty small, and has a fantastic lens lineup. Downsize is cost, both for expending your lenses as well as for the body. All things considered, Id probably recommend the D5300 chiefly because the IQ is great and the lenses are generally cheaper, meaning that you can more affordably try different styles of photography if thats what youre into.
