Once I verified functionality I discovered the original screw here bent and stripped the threads. It was still in when I pulled the old one, and was probably the only thing keeping the ribbon cables from breaking when the back came off.
I re-tapped it for a bigger screw and installed it, nice and tight on the first try. This is under the thumb rest.
