The biggest problem imo is that the subject is not well separated from the background, and the background is very distracting. 
It's really hard to fix this in edits because jacking up the contrast just makes the background even more distracting.
 The deer's eyes are also not level with that ugly, jarring tree it's standing right in front of so correcting for one of the other makes it look off. 
those two trees on the extreme edges of the frame have to go because they make the picture feel closed off in a bad way. but that stump at the bottom right is impossible to get rid of completely without cropping too close to the deer's feet. 
crucially there is no reason for this to be a vertical but there is not enough compositional room to crop it as a horizontal.
It's also like three stops underexposed, has like five stops too little magenta and is oversaturated to my tastes, which can be corrected at least. Attached is my attempt
