>Thanks to this thread I learned about the manual focus mode rangefinderI loved it lol. Such a great tool. On the higher end bodies it's even better, because it works in all modes as the exposure indicator has its own separate scale. It was one of my custom settings, if I recall correctly the only other I used was back button focus with the AE lock button. Refresh my memory, it worked in most modes but manual, right?
>holy fuck I'm snagging the next cheap as dirt vintage lens I seeI'm unsure if it works for that, but let us know in any case.
>Does this mean I'm going to be spoiled for future cameras?Sadly yes, the D5x00 line shrunk in size after the D5300 and the D7x00 models are too tall. I got a Canon full frame now and while it's nice and heavy, the grip isn't the godly thing the one on the D5100 was. I think the only modern camera that is as nice is the comically similar Pentax K-70, pic related. It's almost like a squarish carbon copy, lol.
>>3806029If it has a CPU, you get metering. That means AF-D lenses work (but won't autofocus).
For AI-S and older you need a body with an aperture feeler (D7x00 except for D7500, and any higher end body as well).
