I never got what he meant exactly with that but now I've come to understand that the feel of the picture is ultimately 1000% more important than anything else it has, that being sharpness, symmetry, resolution...
Look at pic related as an example. This pic I took on some expired film perfectly represents the feel I get when I step into a nice sunny cafe when I need to study for finals. If you look at it all blurry and stuff, it still looks nice, the play of colors, nice warm tones, leading lines, it all just fits together.
If you like that style of picture, maybe try adding some more flare to it, like sunbeams hitting a specific part of the building, or being a bit more extreme with symmetry.
