I've been using Sony a5000 since I started. Any camera is fine for anything, it depends more on what you expect out of your lenses.
Sony has a fairly shitty and somewhat exclusive range of lenses and both they and their cameras tend to be more geared towards action shots, street photography and busy stuff.
Not to say you can't get just as much out of portraits and nature as you can with any other camera, but it takes a little more money and work.
The thing I love most about the a5000 is how small and transportable it is. I can fit it in a big pocket and snap shit like I would a phone often.
