From my experience though, the only lens I would take with me on a holiday is the 18-135mm zoom lens.
- It's a super zoom because I don't want to worry about changing lenses on a relaxing vacation.
- I don't want to haul a big gear bag with me, so I try to improvise and make everything work with that one lens.
It's useful when you're high in the mountains and want to zoom down to the landscape.
And useful to take distant shots from buses and taxis.
And useful to get close to animals.
And also fulfills the basic wide angles.
That's why I personally don't need the default 16-50 lens.
