So far, I'm coming away with how film interacts with light; whites and highlights when overexposed ->>3248107 and a costly and time consuming method to emulate an organic grain structure ->>3248032

Pic related, actual high resolution film scan. Tmax 400, grain is so pronounced and contrasty, but very smooth.

Man trust me, it's operator error for sure. Labs do 2 things mostly: leave it at 1,5MP or 6MP mode (because it's even faster in that resolution) and oversharpen to make up for the low resolution. And two, there's a setting in the Noritsu software that is called "autocontrast", essentially it blows your highlights and crushes your shadows to make your shot look punchier, it's better left off.

Here's a really compressed jpeg (original size around 11MB) of TMax 400, scanned at 24MP. You can see the grain really clearly, and TMax has small grain.
