A distinct minority of people trying to use photography to be cool are the only ones demanding manual controls and less automation because for them it isn't about the resulting shots, but how inaccessible the process is, so they can feel like they have a unique skill for once. Like driving a manual transmission. An automatic with manual override will always be faster. A CVT with good firmware will be faster still. But the manual is for being "sporting" and feeling like they can do something after a long day of taking orders at starbucks.
Regardless they rarely go all the way. Ditch the manual civic for a motorcycle/ditch the fuji with slow AF and larp dials for a field camera.
