>>3213715>>3213717I mistyped, I have exactly what you had: f/1.8 for the 50mm, and the zoom is 70-300mm. I really want to nab an 85mm f/1.5 since I hear it's handy to have a good prime zoom but that alone exceeds the cost of the previous two lenses combined, even used and an old model.
I'm still working through Malick and Kubrick, and to a degree I think Tarkovsky was a decent photographer though a bit one-note in style. I just hate how dry and impersonal feeling their work is compared to their peers who were less photographically inclined. I really like the decisions of Sven Nykvist as a DP because there are some gorgeous shots and fantastic decisions made in the black and white winter light-era bergman films, and then you get the personal dramatic vision of Bergman too all in the same flick. But I guess I'm looking more for directors that doubled as DPs or overpowered their DPs.
