On the earlier ones I was less willing to directly hit the split compliment and make it punchy and was relying more on the vibrancy of the flower. Generally when using color schemes the more active/warm color is dominant and should be used draw attention. In the last couple I was playing with balancing them more. It's like the difference in color usage between late renaissance and post-impressionism.
I'm not sold on it either but I'm going to sit on it if/before toning it down.
