If it’s your first rangefinder, i would probably recommend my first, Bessa R w/ color skopar 35 f/2.5
Screw mount body gives you lots of cheap glass to play with, the better shit adapts easily to M mount if/when you decide to blow a lot more money and the camera isn’t a looker but it’s light, the same size as an X100 and has a built in meter (using modern SR44 battery) plus a really good, bright viewfinder
This leaves you way short of $1k and let’s you decide if you actually like rangefinders without a big investment
