I happen to have two Sigma lenses and I was happy to do a side by side vs. the Nikkor 58mm Noct which is notorious for its ''Zeiss like'' rendering. Haven't used the 50mm f1.4 from Sigma in years, I just remembered I have that lens in my counter while I was reading this thread... And now I remember why I stopped using it after I bought Nikkor and Sony GM equivalents. It's as flat as elementary school paper cutout ''art.'' I'm shocked I haven't sold it yet.
Did both shots with my old D810 + tripod + natural light.
First shot I did was with Nikkor, second shot with Sigma.
Don't shoot with Zeiss, Leica, Hasselblad or Voigtlander lenses but this Nikkor 58mm Noct renders almost the same as 35mm f2 Distagon from Zeiss, or at least that's what people say.
TLDR: Sigma shot was so bad I spent ten years editing it to get it to look barely acceptable and it's still as flat as stomped horseshit in the middle of a road.
