When you jump from APS-C most of your lenses still work and your lens selection grows even larger, plus the resolution/sharpness/high ISO gains. I'll grant that the gain is more significant for the 100mp Fuji, and if you need that resolution on a budget it's a fantastic choice. But the difference at 50mp is barely anything.
If you've got the cash to go Phase One you still end up with MF disadvantages...like lens selection...but the IQ gain is more like the jump from APS-C to FF.
Note that one of the key FF vs. crop advantages is shallow DoF, but that doesn't exist on MF because they don't make fast enough MF lenses.
