if you have the chance to buy it and then sell it for a profit, then it's a good situation. but I assume you'd have to keep it and use it because you know the guy, so that's probably off the table.
so now you're in a situation where you otherwise wouldn't spend that money, but now you feel obligated to spend it to take advantage of the deal. but if you didn't have the deal, you wouldn't spend an equivalent amount of money on a similar camera, and if you don't buy this camera, you probably won't spend more buying it in the future. so there's no real reason to buy it, but you feel pressured to buy it all the same. it's an annoying situation to be in. hopefully what I've written has helped you clarify your thinking somewhat. I've found this stark analysis to be helpful when tempted to buy things I don't need that are good deals.
