>>3250934Well I certainly don't shy away from using any of the automatic settings. Most of the pictures I take are while I'm hiking, so I don't have time to just sit and perfect manual settings for a specific photo. I've got a friend who has whatever Canon's D3300 equivalent is and he's made several comments about how the D3300's auto settings are way better than his.
I also took 1,900 pictures on the trip those photos are from. I managed to get a folder of 49 photos that I'm proud of, so basically a 2.6% success rate.
Landscapes were taken with the standard 18-55mm lens that came with the camera. Animal photos were taken with a Sigma 100-400mm telephoto that I'm very very happy with.
